Last night saw the first of Millfield School Music Department’s 2018/19 Open Musicians’ Platform events, and what an evening it proved to be. We heard from many performers performing music from Classical to Musical Theatre and, as with our first Foyer Live event, it was broadcast live to the world through Millfield Music’s YouTube Channel. If you missed out… make sure you join us next time!
To begin proceedings, we were treated to a sterling performance of Villa-Lobos’ Prelude No. 3 performed excellently by new Lower Sixth pupil Cameron on guitar. Several songs taken from Musical Theatre Without You from My Fair Lady and I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables were also expertly and sensitively performed by Caragh (Year 11) and Esme (Year 10) respectively. To round off an incredible evening of music making, we heard a beautifully crafted rendition of Die Nacht by Richard Strauss from Isabelle (Upper Sixth) and a pristinely polished performance of the Prelude No. 1 from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite No.1 for solo cello performed by Hamish (Year 10).
The range of musical styles and the strength of all performers gripped the entire audience from start to finish and was certainly another event that will not be easily forgotten.
