After a relaxing half term break, the Millfield Music School is back in action once again for another bumper month of performances!
We start off this list with an important notice that An Evening of Chamber Music, scheduled in the Johnson Hall on Monday 26th February will not be going ahead. Instead, the programme for this concert will be combined with our celebration of our student’s creations in our Composition Concert on Monday 26th March. Bringing together these two exciting programmes will be a wonderful way to see out the term, combining the creativity of our academic musicians with the energy of our school’s chamber groups!
On Thursday 1st March, a bumper programme of performances will take place in our Tea and Music, hosted in the beautiful settings of Street Parish Church at 4.15pm. The planned programme for the concert is full to bursting with a wide variety of instruments and styles, and promises to be well stocked with baked goods!
Later on that evening, the Music School welcomes the internationally acclaimed Gould Piano Trio for the second instalment of the International Concert Series at 7.30pm in the Johnson Hall. This promises to be a truly special concert, with the ensemble performing works by award winning composer and clarinetist Mark Simpson, who will the join them for a performance of Olivier Messiaen’s seminal work, ‘Quartet for the End of Time’. An opportunity to see a group of this quality live is one not to be missed! There are still some tickets available – see here for more details on how to book your seat.
The second of our Evening Recital‘s will take place on Monday 5th March at 7.30pm in the Johnson Hall. This will provide a brilliant performance opportunity for some of our more experienced performers to explore some fantastic repertoire at a high level. Always a popular event, make sure you save the date for this one!
Following this concert comes one of the highlights of Millfield Music School’s Calendar – our Choral Concert featuring Millfield Chorale, Millfield Festival Chorus and professional orchestra. In the grand setting of Wells Cathedral, this vast ensemble will take on Karl Jenkins’ infamous work, ‘The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace’. Taking place on Tuesday 13th March at 7.30pm, this concert is free to attend but is ticketed and will be immensely popular! If you would like to reserve tickets for this performance, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for all booking enquiries.
On Saturday 17th March, the second of our hugely popular Johnson Session will take place in the Johnson Hall at 7.15pm. This is the chance for our songwriters, bands and performers to treat the audience to a night of contemporary music, featuring covers and originals. Do make sure you can come on down for a relaxed and highly enjoyable night of great music!
We hope you are able to come along to many of our exciting performances taking place over the rest of the term!
