Foyer Live 21/09 – The Review

Following the fantastic performances of Camerata and the Millfield Chorale at the Start of Year Service in Wells Cathedral the week before, some of the school’s finest performers and songwriters came together for the inaugural Foyer Live, a new series of sessions based in the foyer of the Johnson Hall.

A lively crowd filled up the performance area for this lunch time gig – there was standing room only for late comers! The audience was well catered with food, drink and brilliant music courtesy of some truly exciting performers.

Many of the tunes performed were written by the performers themselves, showcasing the high standard of song writing that exists at the school. Elenice and Laura accompanied themselves on the piano, whilst Oska, Rosie and Flo sang with acoustic guitar.

There were some brilliant covers courtesy of Connor and Harvey, the latter of which with a little help from Oska on guitar! Isaac performed an exciting Joe Satriani electric guitar solo, before joining with our band in residence, The Croziers, to close out the set with some classic Led Zeppelin.

The combination of brilliant performances and an excited lunch time crowd made the inaugural Foyer Live a roaring success, something which will set everyone up for the first Johnson Session of the year, based in the Johnson Hall on Saturday 11th November at 7.15pm.

Our next concert will be Tea and Music on Thursday 28th September at 4.15pm. Like Foyer Live, this performance will give some of our students the opportunity to perform some of their pieces they are working on in their instrumental lessons in an informal atmosphere in the Johnson Hall Foyer. We hope you will be able to join us again for what promises to be another exciting concert!
