And we’re back! Welcome and What’s On in September

Welcome back to another year at Millfield Music School!

The academic year has started and the Johnson Hall is bustling with life once more. Students new and old have descended upon the Music Department for rehearsals, preparing for a busy term of performances.

The Millfield Chorale and Camerata begin the year with the Start of Year Service, set in the glorious surroundings of Wells Cathedral on Friday 15th September at 10.30am. Camerata will be performing stunning sacred works by Bach and Bruckner, whilst the Chorale will provide a rousing rendition of Aotearoa, the national anthem of New Zealand.

On Thursday 21st September at 1pm, there will be the first performance of an exciting new series, Foyer Live. Based in the Johnson Hall Foyer, this will be a fantastic show case of some of the most exciting contemporary styles at the school. From pop to rock, jazz to acoustic, we welcome all performers for a relaxed afternoon of music. All students are encouraged to sign up by speaking to Mr. Cook about what they would like to perform.

The first Tea and Music of the year shall take place on Thursday 28th September at 4.15pm in the Johnson Hall Foyer.  In this informal concert, pupils of all abilities will have the opportunity to perform within a relaxed setting (well stocked with tea and cakes!). It promises to be a fantastic afternoon showcasing the variety of musical talent at the school.

All of these concerts are free for all to attend – we encourage all to come along to enjoy the high standard of music Millfield School has to offer!
