After months of careful construction and creative thinking, our AS and A2 students heard the fruits of their labour in a dedicated Composition Recital. Eight works were performed, four live and four recordings. Ranging from a string duet to a progressive rock ensemble, each student took a unique approach to the brief that they were given or had created themselves. The live performances were not only student compositions, but in some cases also featured student performers, stepping into the role of professional musicians and doing so admirably. It was a very rewarding concert to see and hear the students’s work transforming into fully fledged performances, which were accompanied by programme notes that explained the thought-process that had gone into the story of each work. Congratulations to each and every student for their efforts, and we hope they were as pleased with the final performances as we were.
