Camerata were involved in one of the biggest services of the year, Confirmation, held as always in the stunning setting of Wells Cathedral. Such an important occasion in the church calendar and lives of those being confirmed, the service naturally demanded some music appropriate for the occasion. This was provided by Camerata, who performed movements from Byrd’s Mass for three voices and Eric Whitacre’s Lux Aurumque (Light and Gold). The mixture of new and old repertoire provided Camerata with the opportunity to show off their versatility and sensitivity to different musical styles.
If you missed Confirmation and want to hear Camerata again soon, then you are most welcome at both Choral Evensong (Tuesday 2nd May, 7.30pm, Wells Cathedral) and our biggest ensemble concert of 2017 so far, ‘Music at Millfield’ (Friday 5th May, 7.15pm, Johnson Hall). We hope to see many of you there.
