The first contemporary music concert of the year, the Johnson Sessions, delivered an evening of great entertainment and showcased the growing performance and composition talents of Millfield students. Artists as diverse as Justin Bieber and Coldplay were covered by the acts, but both halves of the evening also featured a large number of student-written songs, many of which were revealed to be inspired by real-life subjects. Most performers kept things simple with guitar or piano accompaniment to let their voices shine through.
Highlights included Millfield’s two regular bands, Imperious and The Croziers, with their own miniature sets ending each half, and one student’s own composition that utilised a loop pedal and other different guitar-playing techniques. A large and enthusiastic audience demonstrated the popularity of these sessions, and the support for each performer was wonderful to see.
